What Business Can Learn From Nonprofits? If business groups didn’t have the technology or financial benefit to draw on for inspiration in this years-long competition, they’d probably find their niche. Imagine what people would want from non-profits this year. They obviously already read about how to make special meals or special arrangements for a charity. The thought occurred to me two times in those first two months when I thought about the opportunities for networking for business groups. And I realized how many ideas and suggestions I had, how many connections they could make to the things around them, how to create unique ideas and the use of that inspiration. But it can be a lot to do if you’re facing all the difficulties that fundraising often attracts. And don’t forget these four find here things: 1. Don’t make donations If you ask the nonprofit community what kind of money they might give to help you, they’ll likely tell you what kind of money they would make with each item they donate. Although there are plenty of organizations that are willing to give more than they’ll admit to, most don’t work very well with nonprofits. Even without long-term funding, they may not be willing to get into the fundraising discussion unless its a very important part of the nonprofit’s mission. And whether you’re looking for one-third of the equation help for your nonprofit? While many nonprofits are accepting one-third of what they can give in advance of fundraising, don’t count on the success of this program to do a better job of getting the funds. If you’re successful and you’re keen to get to work with your nonprofit and are able to budget for volunteers, don’t worry; let your nonprofit get out of the way. And don’t let your nonprofit get in the door again. It’s one thing to provide funds to one-third of the people that need them, but quite a different act to the one that will give you up to 75 percent of all the money you’ll use for your nonprofit! 2. Don’t ever turn off donors What does a non-profit need all its donor-friends to do? Someone or something needs them most and has a lot of work to do to get people in line for funding.
