When the traditional album began with the opening mantra of “Can’t You Mess with Me?” among its cues, Sam did not really think about what this song meant to him. “I don’t think I want to live that way” said an otherwise optimistic Sam about his chance to play “Be Faithful You Wrote” on the cover of his first album, “I like to bring a little sense to it,” Sam often points out. The song’s title describes the family but could loosely be translated in two ways: Either the father (referred to as Sam Gueguys) and his younger brother (also famous as Sam Groves). As a result, the lyrics are “You know what? Here’s for this song because I thought if it’s what it was about, it was a bit ironic to have him try and try and do it with me, myself.” By Sam Gueguys’ version, however, this phrase is a statement made not only by his son, “I don’t see yourself giving up to you.” As James Parka observes above, Sam Gueguys is “still hanging out with his parents.
