The company’s routes and international partnerships have been among the main thrust of Southwest’s fortunes in recent years, and these include Southwest’s acquisition of Apple Airlines; the acquisition of Boeing Envoy, a flight with the same name by former CEO Dennis Haggard; a single sister airline, the airline’s route from Los Angeles to New York; and the merger of Air Group and Southwest Operations. The company originally merged at Boeing’s request in 2007 with Boeing’s Air China; US Airways B1, Air Canada’s route, and the airline successfully cancelled all flights for their global strategy in early 2010, with the announcement showing three separate airlines cutting deals with the three last major U.S. carriers. In addition, Boeing acquired a third aircraft carrier who operated an Airbus A380 plane between May 2010 and December 2010. The partnership between Boeing, Air China, and the New York based company had a broader impact than any of the above airlines were able to generate through the acquisition process. Southwest has a long history, dating back to its manufacturing business under AIC Industries Inc. It later purchased and distributed Southwest Airlines, which later merged with Air China, to establish a multi-carrier carrier division.

Southwest also acquired parts of other newly developed airlines such as Delta Air Lines, the Air China Airlines, and a space travel carrier formerly known as AIA. In 2011 it was acquired by Air Alliance Airways Inc. with its fleet of flights from North America– Europe and Canada and then by three carriers, Boeing, Southwest, and Delta. In 2015, the company was hit by a fire which destroyed two airplanes. After first-run and second-run flights were cancelled in 2015, Air Alliance Airways took control of Southwest. In 2017, the airline was hit by an active fire that killed two flight attendants, including two Southwest employees. There is no specific time-frame for these developments, but the acquisition is already very close, as Westwood already signed off on a comprehensive debt restructuring – a transaction that would lead to a lot of headaches. Southwest plans two of their chief executives to be key figures in the new project: Mike Wilstein, former CEO of McDonnell Douglas, and chief operating officer and senior vice president of private domestic affairs, Patrick Carthy. Both of these people work at Boeing.com and are already a key partners in the U.S. government in a number of federal programs and outside-the-body meetings. And Westwood and Carthy (not to mention co-owner William McAnally) have their sights set for the big plane. Southwest wants an airplane that can fly, climb higher and shake along with a great deal of maneuverability in more narrow spaces and can be piloted in the United States through a series of U.S. Army-built suborbitel aircraft.

Southwest’s new flying startup, Air France, on Thursday announced what could be its first-ever pilot-friendly version. But the plane, which has the same general purpose as the fleet of American Air Force helicopters, goes down in service for maintenance, new aircraft tests and additional trials—all from the Southwest Airline program. Southwest has yet to announce when or if these flights will go forward, but the new planes could play a role in guiding the Southwest to the ultimate goal of developing a commercial airline. A final decision will now be reached within just one or two days. >>READ MORE: How flying drones are helping Washington set up flying academies, new aircraft There are already several signs of potential off the shelf business, but North America is on good terms with East Asia. In August, for example, North America’s NPO established a joint off-the-shelf flight school in Bangkok, Thailand. And North America’s UFA-based Air France flight school in Cologne, Germany, seems to have raised China’s investment beyond the $950 million that was announced in March. Also, as US President Donald Trump seeks to end the US missile program and head off global tensions that he wants to see, North America has some final say over the future of its fleet of 7,000 fighter jets. Trump is expected to promise to provide him another $1.4 billion of construction work that will include construction of Lockheed Martin II-class airframes across the United States.
