The new method extracts spectral features from the photoelectron spectrum of a device by a method that detects the full effective *p*~in~, *p*~out~, and *p*~irr~, respectively, of the substrate, and then reconstructs the spectrum from image data using the information stored in the signal processing algorithm by a spatial resolution. The new method is based on the concept of intensity-sorting and correlation \[[@CR10]\], and is therefore a test-bed technique with a few properties similar to the ones described in earlier spectral imaging methods discussed so far \[[@CR10]\].
