The Makers tries to convey the core themes of the book; the characters do complicated conversations; the stories come out at various points; and then serves as early drafts for the book, in less time than it takes to assemble the first draft. In other words, none of these elements constitute a unified story; and unlike The Times or The Washington Post, the Makers does not focus exclusively on the conflict between the United States and Russia.
